Theme: Christ In You
We are to be the shining light of Christ to the world. The Bible has promised in Ephesians 3:17 that Christ may dwell in our hearts by faith. Colossians 1:27 describes this as the mystery of God, ‘Christ in you, the hope of glory’.
Jesus Christ was the Great Physician and is our perfect example. In fact, Ellen White says, “Christ was a Seventh-day Adventist, to all intents and purposes.” – Medical Ministry p. 49
Thus, Seventh-day Adventist health care professionals should be a complete demonstration of Christ in the life. Our practices should be a place where our patients come in contact with the living Christ, the Jesus of Scripture.
“Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, ‘Follow Me.’” – Ministry of Healing, p. 143
Why? Why is Jesus’ method so successful?
Jesus Christ was a powerful lifestyle changer not merely because of what He said but because of who He was. When the officers of the temple reported to the chief priests they made this remarkable statement, “No man ever spoke like this man.” – John 7:46
Commenting on this passage Ellen White makes this thought-provoking comment, “But the reason for this was that never man lived as He lived. Had His life been other than it was, He could not have spoken as He did. His words bore with them a convincing power, because they came from a heart pure and holy, full of love and sympathy, benevolence and truth.” – Ministry of Healing, p. 469
This year’s conference is a challenge for Christ to be in you so that the mystery of God will be finished. Attendees will learn to implement Christ’s method alone in their practices thus becoming more effective soul winners.
