Abundant life as a student, resident or newly practicing provider

My contribution: The Holy Spirit is our best companion and our “secret” weapon. He’s available to everyone who asks anywhere and is the secret to wisdom. He is the “best tool” in our toolbox. I have learned since going to my first AMEN in 2019 to ask for him moment by moment in my practice, before each patient and during each interaction with others. Asking to be merely his vehicle of choice and to actively be his hands and feet.

I learned from Joi about how she has been intentional this year in getting to know each and every person in her class. I loved that idea of creating intentional connection with each of her classmates. I feel that that can be used for my coworkers in my current place of work. Often my coworkers are the ones I spend the most time with and whom I seem to have the most influence on. Being more open with my faith in the past year especially has lead to more spiritual conversations then I thought I would ever have in a pretty secular workplace. I heard in a sermon previously about throwing out things when talking about the weekend, such as, “I baked a vegan cake, I went to a religious conference, and I took a walk.” Leaving the door open to spiritual conversations if the co-worker is open to it. I enjoyed discussing with my group the idea of spiritual leads. These leads are just ideas of course and must first and foremost be utilized after asking for the Holy Spirit.
Additional thoughts: I was impressed with the need for us all to work together for the work to really be finished. Too often I have thought about the medical work and the church as separate but parallel entities. It is critical that as a healthcare professional I am working hand in hand with my church family and the rest of my healthcare team for true whole person health, not only for my patients but for my coworkers as well. I am so excited about this vision and to see what we can do together, not only waiting for heaven, but also for the joy of living abundantly now in Christ.

My contribution: Shared our testimony on how the Lord helped us to remain faithful when facing trials that tested our trust in Him. When doors closed because of our religion, the Lord gave us the strength and opened other doors for us.
Additional thoughts: There should be a united work between the gospel workers and the health ministry workers.

Whenever there is a call from the Lord to serve Him, we should accept His calling and trust that He will enable us to complete the task.

My contribution: I am amazed by how AMEN members have the passion to mentor younger generations and those who are just starting their profession.. You are really a blessing to us!
Additional thoughts: This day is such a blessing because my prayer was answered—to be able to meet an OBGYN here in US to encourage and guide me. Thank you so much Dr Torquato for making a way for me to meet Dr. Swena.

My contribution: This thought came from Timothy Arnott. If you listen to your patients they will tell you the diagnosis. If you listen longer they will tell you the treatment.

My contribution: Young health care professionals are very teachable and are open to change. As we begin our career, it is very important to instill in our minds the true meaning of SERVICE for us to be compassionate in doing God’s work.
